Do you love libraries? Bask in books? Create comics? Seize upon story ideas?
If this sounds like you, then we’d like to invite you to celebrate all things literary by becoming a member of the Young Writers’ Club. Whether you live near our headquarters in North Vancouver, British Columbia, or halfway around the world, if you’re a fan of the literary life then you’re invited to join us. The YWC is a program of the non-profit Lynn Valley Literary Society, and receives funding support from the North Vancouver Office of Cultural Affairs.
The goals of the club are to exercise our imagination, learn more about the craft of creative writing, and to have fun with other people who are walking the writer’s path. When you join the club, you’ll be sent an official YWC Writing Kit, with all the tools in it you’ll need to launch a new phase in your creative life!
Along with the Writing Kit, everyone signing up as a YWC Standard Member will receive the following:
- subscription to "The Letter Press," a quarterly Lynn Valley Society/Young Writers' Club publication with writing news, views, tips and contests.
- the chance to be published in our annual story anthology, and to take part in YWC writing contests.
- access to our online web forum on which members can post work for feedback or seek input on their most vexing writing dilemmas.
- the opportunity to take part in new monthly writing sessions where members have the time to work on their own writing projects and hear feedback from others if they want it (drop-in fee applies).
- motivational emails and notices of local literary events.
- invitations to special events such as our chapbook launches, and to represent the YWC at local festivals and community days.
YWC Workshop Members will receive the above,
and be able to attend our “members-only”
workshops at Mollie Nye House, a community
use heritage home in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver,
on the second Wednesday of each month from
4 to 6 p.m.
Mollie Nye House (940 Lynn Valley Rd.) is about five minutes from the Second Narrows Bridge, and on several bus routes.
